These large scale paintings transform spaces. Fascinating juxtapositions of opposing textures in maximalist patterned landscapes abound. There might be shiny passages of gold leaf traversing across matte rugged concrete, or sequins buried in venetian plaster. They are archeological studies, inspired by the impression of time on everyday urban spaces. Graffiti on a hundred year old underpass wall which has been destroyed and created anew, or a tattered layered silk remnant reimagined as pattern stamped on wax. They are magical to engage with from varying angles, and they transform into an entirely new painting as the light changes throughout the day and night.
Life in Concrete
Life in Concrete
Layers of concrete and paint form a substrate encrusted in lichen-like emerald greens. Bands of cut material weave across the top of the piece. Patterns and embers of surprising color emerge throughout the strata.
